WASHINGTON – The National Spectrum Consortium (NSC), in partnership with the Department of War (DoW), today announces an award to RTX BBN Technologies, Inc. (RTX BBN), a wholly-owned subsidiary of RTX, for nearly $12 million to demonstrate technology for “Advanced Coexistence in lower 3 GHz Spectrum” (AC3S). The project is part of the Advanced Spectrum Coexistence (ASC) Demonstration program, previously known as Advanced Dynamic Spectrum Sharing Demonstration (ADSSD).
For this effort, RTX has teamed with several organizations including Ericsson Federal Technologies Group, Federated Wireless, Inc. (FW), Signal Processing Technologies, Inc. (SPT), Novowi LLC (Novowi), and Purdue University. Funds to implement the project are awarded through NSC’s prototype Other Transaction Agreement (OTA).
The ASC program was created by the DoW to validate and showcase spectrum sharing solutions with the intent to strengthen both national security and economic competitiveness. RTX BBN’s spectrum sharing project adds to the total ASC portfolio, which includes project teams led by the following prime contractors:
- Interdigital Communications Inc.
- Kostas Research Institute at Northeastern University, LLC
- Nokia Federal Solutions
- Peraton Labs
- RTX BBN Technologies
“Congratulations to RTX BBN on the spectrum sharing award,” said Joe Kochan, NSC CEO. “Their technology and partnership with experts across a varied landscape of industry and academia shows the promise of continued innovation in the wireless research space. With new spectrum coexistence solutions, we can ensure we have the wireless resources needed both for national defense and to drive economic growth.”
About the National Spectrum Consortium
The NSC’s mission is to build bridges between key stakeholder groups – government and industry; industry stalwarts and startups; and civilian and military suppliers and users – to deliver two essential outcomes: breakthroughs in spectrum- and spectrum-using capabilities; and policy and regulatory insights to enhance, inform and sustain U.S. technical leadership.
