MARY PETRYSZYN
Board Member, active Board Director for Saab and on the Board of Governors for the USO
Mary D. Petryszyn serves as a public Board Director, and Committee member and chair. She serves as a Board Director, Compensation Committee chair, and Government Security Committee member for Saab, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Saab AB (OTC: SAABF), an international defense, aerospace and security company. She is a Board Director and Audit Committee member for Woodward, Inc. (NASDAQ: WWD), the global leader in the design, manufacture, and service of energy conversion and control solutions for the aerospace and industrial equipment markets. Petryszyn served on the Board of Governors of the United Service Organizations (USO), chairing the IT/Cyber Committee, and was a member of the Executive and Digital Transformation Committees.
She retired as corporate vice president, Northrop Grumman – a technology company, focused on global security and human discovery. She held the position of president, Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector. In this role, she oversaw delivery of full spectrum defense capabilities that provide mission ready, all-domain decisions and effects to a wide variety of national security, military and civil customers around the world. The sector operated with over 13,500 employees in all 50 United States and 17 countries. Petryszyn also served as the corporate leadership co-chair of the company’s Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council.
Previously, she served as sector vice president and general manager of the Land and Avionics C4ISR division for Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector, and as vice president of Global Strategy and Mission Solutions at the heritage Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector. Petryszyn has extensive global experience in business and operational leadership in government and defense markets. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman in 2013, she held leadership roles at Singer-Link, Hughes Aircraft Company, and Raytheon including in areas of profit and loss, program management, strategy and business development, and mergers and acquisitions.
Petryszyn earned an associate degree in engineering science from SUNY Broome Community College, a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Clarkson University and a master’s degree in computer engineering from Syracuse University. She completed advanced management programs, including the Executive Business Leadership Program at the University of Chicago and Indiana University’s Executive Marketing Program. Petryszyn is a fellow life member of SWE and is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). She won the prestigious Operational Excellence category in the WeQual Award – The Americas 2023. In 2021 and 2022, she received the Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic.
